Harlan Krumme Energy Education Grant
2020 Application
The OERB/Harlan Krumme Memorial Energy Education Grant accepts applications each year for funding of energy education programs that teach students about energy usage (specifically oil and natural gas), efficiency, conservation and its importance in Oklahoma state history.
Our goal is to reward innovative teaching techniques and to develop energy education resources for Oklahoma educators. The grant winner will receive $500 for classroom materials and an additional $500 for personal use.
Applicants must be Oklahoma teachers who have attended at least one of OERB’s curricula workshops: Little Bits, Fossils to Fuel, Fossils to Fuel 2, Petro Active, Rockin' Ratios or CORE Energy.
Congrats to our 2018 Harlan Krumme Energy Education Grant winner, Jona Ghose, an English teacher at Union Public Schools - Tulsa, OK!
Jona created a lesson for high school English classes to help focus junior students' thinking about college and career, prior to spring enrollment for senior classes. For the lesson, the students use the OERB website for its information on public service, scholarships and career opportunities. Students write and create PSAs about the OERB to display their expertise in succinct, clear writing, understanding of ethos, pathos and logos rhetorical modes of writing and then produce a multi-media presentation. As the grant winner, Jona received $500 for personal funds and a $500 classroom grant, which will be used to purchase a scanner, DVD player, VHS converter and Shakespeare CDs.
